What is the
MALTE MARTEN METHOD?
Over the years, I’ve been able to accompany more than 3000 students on their handpan path. What started as intuitive and improvised workshops has evolved into my very own teaching method. Through the wide reach on social media and beyond, I’ve met a huge range of different people whose goal is to be able to express themselves with the handpan, to work on their virtuosity and to understand the handpan more deeply.
Suitable for everyone
Due to the diversity of my students in terms of playing level, previous experience, socialization and other parameters, I have continued to refine my method until I felt that I had deeply understood handpan teaching and could offer the greatest possible added value for my students.
As interest in the handpan as such, but also in handpan lessons, is constantly growing and my opportunities to teach are naturally limited, I have designed different learning programs, such as online courses for players and the world's first handpan teacher training. It is important to me that people who are new to the world of handpan, who are taking their first steps without experience are guided in the right way. But what is right in my eyes? In addition to fundamental knowledge, technical skills and empathy, I think it's important to teach things that go beyond simple pattern playing and techniques.
There are endless approaches and questions to playing and teaching handpan, which is why the Malte Marten Method has become such an important part of the handpan world. Well-trained teachers ensure a healthy and diverse handpan player landscape where people play their instrument in their own unique way.
